The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve recirculates part of the exhaust gases back to the intake manifold to lower the combustion temperature and, with it, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. It has been a mandatory component under emissions regulations since Euro 3.

The main problem with the EGR is the soot accumulation. Exhaust gases contain soot that gradually deposits on the valve, the duct, and the EGR cooler, reducing flow until the system becomes completely blocked. Other common faults include defective electrical or pneumatic actuators, malfunctioning position sensors, and vacuum leaks. The consequence is always the same: the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) illuminates, performance is lost, the idle is rough, and in many cases, the system enters limp mode.

EGR delete by remapping is one of the most requested solutions in professional workshops. The procedure disables the valve's control maps (target position, flow rate, actuator PWM) and all EGR circuit DTCs in the diagnostic mask. If the workshop physically removes the valve, the remap stops the ECU from logging errors.

In most diesel engines, disabling the EGR slightly improves performance and reduces intake temperature by eliminating exhaust gas recirculation. These are the EGR fault codes we resolve:
