What does code P244B mean?

DPF differential pressure too high. The ECU detects excessive backpressure in the particulate filter, indicating severe saturation.

Symptoms seen in the workshop

  • Severe limp mode
  • Significant power loss
  • Very high fuel consumption

Common causes of code P244B

  • DPF severely saturated with soot or ash
  • Faulty differential pressure sensor (false high reading)
  • DPF with partially melted ceramic substrate

Fix by ECU remapping

DPF system deactivation with special attention to backpressure and turbo protection maps.

⚠️ Important: Disabling the DTC without the correct calibration of the related system (DPF OFF + DTC OFF) is not a valid fix. Both the calibration maps and the diagnostic mask have to be modified.
